2 Penn Center Plaza

The design uses an exoskeleton structural system that recalls the memory of trees, as the existing plaza is completely void of any vegetation. Behind the structural layer is a glass box. The first floor which opens to the plaza is 2700 SF and is invisioned as a high end retail space. The lower level, open to the concourse, will be use as a bar/restaurant space.

This project is in the conceptual phase. The design uses the existing light well from the plaza to the concourse below and looks to re-purpose the void into a commercial use while at the same time, activate the prominence of the corner of 16th and JFK Blvd.
